At first it was white and tiny (the end of a pin) and now later on tonite..i looked in the mirror and now its a bubble. it was clear, had fluid and it was out there. its like the size of a quilting pin (the round ends) and now im not sure if i should leave it alone..pop it ..or what should i do? is it dangerous or contagious? and ..i want to know how i got it it the first place..

A SAFETY PIN SAVES YOU IN NEED!!

Safety pin is a simple fastening device which has variation of the regular pin which includes a simple spring mechanism and a clasp. The clasp serves two purposes, first, to form a closed loop thereby properly fastening the pin to whatever it is applied to, and second to cover the end of the pin to protect the user from the sharp point. Safety pins are commonly used to fasten pieces of fabric or clothing together like they are widely used to fasten cloth diapers or nappies as its clasp prevents the baby from being jabbed. Similarly, they can be used to patch torn or damaged clothing. These pins can also be used as an accessory or jewelry such as earrings, chains, and wristbands. Sometimes they are used to attach an embroidered patch.

Safety pin was invented by Walter Hunt and on April 10 1849, Walter Hunt was granted US patent # 6,281 for his safety pin. The whole safety pin is made up single piece of wire which has spring at one end and a separate clasp and point at the other end, allowing the point of the wire to be forced by the spring into the clasp. It was the first pin which has both clasp and spring action and Hunt claimed that it was designed to keep fingers safe from injury - hence the name. Safety pins come in three different forms such as:

o       Coiless safety pins are the ones who don't have the end coil which can sometimes catch on bits of fabric. They are generally great for crafts.

o       Kilt or Skirt pins are made especially for Kilts as they are much bigger than regular safety pins and the fastener will not catch the fabric. Kilt pins are great to use for safety pin brooches.

o       Curved Safety Pins are great for quilting projects; the curved angle of pin makes it much easier to penetrate the quilt layers.

Safety pins are a necessity in every home as they are multi-purpose fastening devices used to pin together everything from diapers to drapes and also can provide decorative accents. Instead of keeping them in your sewing kit, break out the safety pins and put them to work around your home.

§         Keep some pins in every purse in case of wardrobe malfunctions when you're out of the house. A safety pin can save a garment from revealing too much in an emergency when tailor isn't available.

§         Make jewelry with the help of safety pins. String safety pins with small glass beads of different colors or silver or gold beads can be used as accents.

§         Create wall art by string charms on safety pins and attach them in patterns to canvas. You'll get an intricately detailed and textured piece of art.

§         Create Christmas-themed crafts such as Christmas trees by putting green beads on pins, and then using multiple green-beaded pins to decorate a Christmas tree.
